What does it mean to build your life on the words of Jesus?
In this Bible Sunday sermon at St Andrew’s Church, Watford, we explore Jesus’ promise that heaven and earth will pass away, but his words will never pass away.
In a world that is constantly changing, Jesus offers us something we can depend on. His words invite us to discover the faithfulness of God, find our foundation in his promises, and allow Scripture to shape the way we live.
Drawing on Colossians 3, we discover what it means to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly. As we encounter Jesus through the Bible, we are invited to grow in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, becoming more like him in our everyday lives.
This sermon explores three practical ways to make room for God's Word: opening the Bible expectantly, carrying a phrase of Scripture into our day, and putting what we read into practice.
As we come to the Communion table, we are reminded that the Bible ultimately points us towards Jesus himself — the Word made flesh — and the grace and love we receive through him.
