What is God Really Like?
What is God really like?
Many of us carry assumptions about God that have been shaped by culture, disappointment, experience, or religion itself. Yet one of the central claims of Christianity is that if we want to know what God is like, we look at Jesus.
In this sermon, we explore Psalm 50:7-15 and Matthew 9:9-26, where God challenges false pictures of himself and reveals his heart through Christ. Through the calling of Matthew, the healing of a woman who had suffered for twelve years, and the raising of a young girl from death, we discover a God who desires mercy rather than sacrifice, relationship rather than transaction, and who moves towards people long before they have everything figured out.
